Who We Are
FRA Branch 172, located in Yorktown, Virginia, is a local unit of the Fleet Reserve Association—a congressionally chartered, non-profit organization representing the interests of enlisted Sea Service personnel before the U.S. Congress.
Our Cardinal Principles
Loyalty
To God and Country, to the Sea Services, and to our Shipmates.
Protection
Advocating for adequate national defense and the rights of those who serve.
Service
Rendering assistance to our Shipmates and their dependents in good fortune or distress.
Our Heritage: The 1954 Charter
On June 5, 1954, twenty-five dedicated Shipmates stood together to charter Peninsula Branch 172. We honor their vision and the foundation they built for generations of sea service personnel to follow.

Community Impact
Branch 172 isn't just a meeting place; it's a pillar of the Yorktown community. We actively support local NJROTC programs, participate in veteran advocacy, and provide a home-away-from-home for our members.
Membership is open to all current and former enlisted members of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Whether you served for one day or thirty years, you are a Shipmate here.
